(1) Around 1836, while incarcerated in Manila, Francisco Baltazar wrote the poem Florante at Laura, which was eventually made public in 1838 after his release. Later on, this poem rose to fame as one of the best and most cherished works of literature in the Philippines.
In this tale, Florante at Laura, Aladin saves Florante from being eaten by lions when he is chained to a tree in the forest outside the kingdom of Albanya. Following Florante's rescue by Aladin, the two of them developed a close relationship and started talking openly about their pasts. Aladin was told by Florante that he was the prince of Albanya and that he had been chosen by the king to search for the destroyed kingdom of Osmalik because the king had dreamed that he was the one who could win this war. Here, he also discusses how he fell in love with Laura, despite the fact that the war has prevented him from meeting the princess.
(2) After killing Osmalik, Florante spent five months in the kingdom of Kotrona until receiving a message instructing him to return to Albanya where his competitor Adolfo was waiting for him. When Florante learned that Adolfo had killed his father and seized the kingdom, Adolfo had also ordered that Florante be cast out into the wilderness to be eaten by animals.
(3) Aladin began discussing his past after Florante finished explaining his. He told Florante that he left the kingdom because he was exiled to Persia after failing to defeat Florante's men and that his father Sultan Ali-Adab had stolen his fiancée, Flerida. They realized Flerida and Laura were speaking when they heard two female voices during their conversation. Aladin was informed by Flerida that she had disguised herself as a gerero in order to get away from his father. Laura also told Florante that she had never loved Adolfo and had just been compelled to be with him up until Flerida rescued her by stabbing him with a spear.
