Employment Training Specialist
mfigueroa@djusd.net
I have worked in Special Education for 13 years and have served as a WorkAbility Coordinator for the past four years. Prior to becoming a coordinator, I worked as a paraeducator, which provided me with valuable hands-on experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Sacramento State University and a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Chamberlain University. My passion is working with students with special abilities and helping them recognize their strengths, build confidence, and prepare for life after high school. I am especially passionate about supporting students as they explore their career interests, develop employment skills, and create meaningful post-graduation plans that align with their individual goals and abilities.
Through my experience, I strive to connect students with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to successfully transition from high school into employment, college, vocational training, and independent adulthood.
