On behalf of the staff of the College of Engineering & Built Environment and the TU174 Programme Committee, we would like to welcome you to Technological University Dublin and to wish you a rewarding and successful year ahead.
We congratulate you on securing a place on a highly sought-after programme and we hope you will find it challenging, stimulating, and exciting.
Our aim is to provide a creative, committed, and energetic environment within which our students can explore and develop their individual abilities to work collaboratively with other disciplines and our professionally experienced staff within a BIM environment. We want to assure you that your choice of programme will not only provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your chosen careers, but will also assist in your lifelong development, both academically and personally.
Your programme committee strives to ensure that your experience of the Programme is a memorable and enjoyable one, and as such we are always happy to offer our advice and assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact your year tutor, programme chair, any member of your lecturing team, or the Head of School or School Administrator at any stage should you require guidance or assistance.
The BSc (Hons) in BIM (Digital Construction) programme offers both: domain-specific modules (focussing on modelling, review, and exploitation, along with federation & validation); and BIM standards & principles modules. The remainder of the programme is composed of work-based learning and dissertation modules which focus on employability skills and developing graduates capable of problem-solving, appraising opportunities and challenges, and appropriate decision-making, respectively. The programme content is underpinned by principles of Lean and Sustainability.

The MSc in applied BIMM, Postgraduate Diploma in Collaborative BIM and BIM Technologies, are unique programmes offering both domain-specific technology modules along with collaborative BIM projects and theory-based research modules. Graduates of the Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma stages of this programme, as well as of our CPD BIM Diploma programmes from previous years, are industry-ready to work in or gain employment within a BIM project environment.

It also includes details on the duration and content of your programme, assessment procedures and regulations, links to module descriptors, student support services, lecturer contact details, etc.
Your transition into a new cultural, social, and academic environment will certainly be challenging at times but there are a range of excellent support services throughout TU Dublin, which will provide the support and advice you may require during your time with us. You will find links to all of these services in this handbook.
