Word Work:

Each week, the students will work on a different pattern or rule for spelling. We focus on 5 words each week that follow the particular rule or pattern. The students do activities with these words, such as writing them in sentences, finding them in their word dictionaries, and "fencing them in" to distinguish between tall and short letters. The students go to their Word Work Center 2-3 times a week.

Centers:

In addition to Ready Gen, we will also have centers most days of the week. During centers, I will be meeting with small groups for reading, and the rest of the class will rotate through various other centers, including word work, silent or buddy reading, and other language arts activities.
