Meet the teacher

My name is Kirsten Grosskopf and I have been teaching K-2 for the past 32 years. I received my B.A. in Elementary Education with endorsements in Social Science and ELA from Southern Illinois University and my M. A. for Curriculum and Instruction with an ESL Endorsement from Olivet Nazarene University. This will be my 29th year at Brook Park. I have taught Reading Recovery, Kindergarten, First and Second grades. I have also had the pleasure of Looping 1st & 2nd grade with my classes for a few years. I truly enjoy teaching and I look forward to having a wonderful year in Kindergarten with your child.

While teaching is my passion, my first love is my family. My husband Ken and I have been married for 26 years. We have three children-Madison 23, Mason(our angel), Gracie 21 and Tyler 18. Madison graduated from Illinois State University and is teaching in 5th grade. Gracie is a junior at Illinois State University and will be double majoring in Special Education and Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Tyler is a freshman at ISU and will be majoring in Business. ISU Trifecta! We have two wonderful dogs named, Tucker(black) and Hunter(white). Believe it or not these two are actually brothers from the same(mother) litter. We also have two box turtles named Yertle and Franklin. Franklin is our class pet. We love camping and hiking in the mountains of Colorado and Montana or vacationing on the beaches of Georgia together.
