About Me

Hello Brook Park community,

Welcome to my page! My name is Meagan DeSalvo, and I am in my third year as BP's Mathematics Specialist. I could not be more excited to be continuing to work with this amazing community.

Prior to coming to Brook Park, I taught at Hoover Math and Science Academy in Schaumburg, Illinois as a sixth grade teacher for three years. At Hoover, sixth grade was in the elementary school, so I was able to teach all the subjects to my students. It was a great three years at Hoover filled with memories and many learning experiences; however, I have loved my time getting to know the BP family. I'm especially thrilled with this position because I get to teach math full time.

As a Math Specialist, I work with small groups of students to provide intervention support to accelerate their math understanding at their level. I work with teachers to positively reflect on current math practices and see where we can enrich all classroom experiences to meet the needs of all students. This year I also have an opportunity to provide enrichment services as well.

Currently, I am working on my master's degree (graduating in December) at University of Wisconsin-Stout which is completely an online program. By the end of the program, I will have a Master's in Education and a Mathematics Specialist degree. I have already taken away so much from the program.

On the personal side (which hopefully you saw in the video), I have been running for more than half my life, and I truly love it. Going out for a run, brings me great joy and a feeling of empowerment. I had an active childhood with multiple sports, so any time I can be up and moving I am a happy camper. Part of the activities is going on walks with my dog Sully who is a rescue Husky-Lab mix. He gets me outside, rain or shine!

I am looking forward to this new school year and all the possibilities that it will bring. Please do not hesitate to contact me with anything. My email is mdesalvo@district95.org and my phone number is: 708-588-8749.

Thank you!

Ms. Meagan DeSalvo
