Welcome!
I am so excited to be teaching your child this year! We are going to have a wonderful year! I have included a packet of information about our school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My school phone number is 320-845-5101. My email is ssauerer@district745.org. I will update our website throughout the year.

Daily Folders
Your child has a daily BEE folder. This folder is meant to be a form of communication between school and home. Please have your child return their folder daily for any projects or papers that may need to come home.
Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays and half-birthdays! When your child’s special day arrives, we will celebrate in the classroom by singing, your child can wear a crown, and we will read a book of your child’s choice. Feel free to send a favorite book to school with your child on their birthday/half birthday. If your child’s birthday falls on the weekend, we will plan to celebrate on the closest day. Please note, due to state policy we can no longer have edible birthday treats.
Snacks and Water Bottles
We will not have a daily snack this year. We will eat breakfast together as a class at 8:15 each morning and eat lunch at 12:05. Because it is so beneficial to the brain and body, your child may bring a water bottle to school to use throughout the day. Please make sure to label this container. Your Kindergartener will bring this home each weekend for a good cleaning.
Extra Clothes
On occasion, something might occur that makes your Kindergartener’s clothes unwearable (accident, spilled milk, snowy weather, etc). It is more comfortable for Kindergarteners to change into familiar clothing, you may choose to keep a change of clothes in your child’s locker. Please send an outfit in a labeled gallon-size baggie. We will send this home at the end of the year.
Medications
As a teacher, I can not administer medication. Please call our nurse in the Health Office (her number can be found in your child’s BEE folder). If your child is not feeling well we will have the nurse help us determine if they should stay in school or head home at which time you will be notified. Please remember, children MUST stay home for 24 hours after a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Homework
Every month, there will be a monthly reading log sent home with your child in their folder. The idea of this is twofold. Your child will gain lots from hearing you read, and eventually your child will be able to read to you. Please fill out the reading log as you read together and return it at the end of each month. There may be additional homework later in the year. Please do these together and have fun! Also, play any games with your kiddo at home! These are so beneficial for building social skills and math readiness skills.
Communication
I like to keep everyone informed of our classroom happenings in a calendar form and by notes home each month. I plan to send a paper copy home and post these on our Google site https://sites.google.com/district745.org/stephanie-sauerer/home .
You can always communicate with me by writing a note or sending me an email. I check email daily when in school and will return messages as soon as I can, many times not until the end of the day. Phone calls can be a challenge with the class in session, but I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Physical notes or emails are preferred for changes in after-school schedules. On the off chance we have a substitute teacher, he/she does not have access to my email. If you prefer, please send an email to Kelsey Thelen, our Superhero in the office!
Field Trips/Volunteers
Throughout the year we will be going on field trips. I will send updates with more information when they get closer.
We are looking for Mystery Readers on several dates. Shhhhh! This is a surprise! Please feel free to sign up yourself, or arrange to have someone your child knows to read to our class. We ask that the Mystery Reader bring a favorite book of your child’s to share! I will be sending home a link later in the year.
Changes in Transportation/Picking up Your Child
If your child will be going home differently than normal, a written, dated note is always needed. (For example, “Stephanie will be picked up by grandma Vi at the ELC tomorrow at 2:00 for an appointment. 9-18-24”). The more specific, the better! Put this note in your child’s folder. Students MUST be picked up in the office of the school, NOT from a bus at the ELC (this is for safety reasons!).
Please reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to our partnership!
