We learned that Cassie works to "bring the fun" to our community. That she did by bringing special guest, Harry the Huskie.
Violet's mom, Jordan, came to our classroom to teach us about being a pharmasist. We learned safety rules for prescription medications. We played a fun game called "Pokemon or Medication?" Jordan said a name and we had to guess if it was the name of a Pokemon or if it was the name of a medication.
Noah's grandpa, John, told us about the work he does in contruction. He measure the height of the students, and then gave them their own tape measure. We used the tape measures to measure items in our classroom.

Jack needed a new piece of equipment to complete that job. He took out a loan from the bank and then made payments to the bank each time he was paid.
Kevin's dad, Mason, visited us focusing on wants and needs and spending money wisely as to be able to work toward goals. The students did a great job of identifying different wants and needs.

I can't thank you all enough for all of the kind words, well. wishing, thoughtful cards and gifts. I am blessed to work in such an amazingly supportive community. Your children gave me so much love as I dealing with Ocular Melanoma this school year. You are raising amazing humans!
We had a tremendous time learning about pushes and pulls at the Skatin' Place. The most amazing part was seeing the growth in the students just in the few hours we were there. Many had never skated before today and they went from being unsure and a little wobbly on their skates to finding the rhythm and gaining confindence. Take a look at the photos in the carousel below!
We had a visit from a dental hygenist. She shared with us ways to keep our teeth healthy. We learned about proper brushing, eating healthy food, and regular visits to the dentist.
This year, the Albany Fire Department brought a truck to us! We got to check out the truck and learn a lot about the tools that the truck carries. We learned that a fire truck is like a giant toolbox on wheels. We had two fire fighters visit our classroom to teach us about fire safety and show us the safety gear they use when. The respond to an emergency. Take some time to talk to your child about the fire safety tips we learned (Ex: stay low and go, get out and stay out, have a meeting place, take nothing with you.)
We had the most amazing experience visiting the Helgeson Learning Lab in St. Joe to see Great Theatre's production of Elephant and Piggie's: We Are In A Play! The energy and excitement were so special as these characters came to life in front of us.! We loved making conncetions to the books we read in the classroom. We even got to participate from our seats. Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this field trip for our kindergarten classes!
We spent much of our day outside. We walked along the trails in the beautiful park and got to play on the big play ground. We are so grateful to everyone that donated to our PTO. We appreciate all that the PTO does to support our learning!
Our class read, How Full Is Your Bueckt? For Kids, We learned how our words and actions can affect one another; how they can make people feel good (fill their bucket) or hurt them (dip their bucket). We have a classroom bucket that we are working to fill. Our class will add a little purple paw every time we work together in a kind, repsectful, and safe way. We have already earned some for walking in the hall, working at stations, and cleaning together after free choice. Everytime our class fills the bucket we will choose a classroom reward.
This week our class some grovy Pete the Cat books! Pete even left clues around the school. We looked far and wide and never found Pete. However, he did leave us a little stuffy and some coloring pages. Along the way, our class got to meet the important people in our school and learn about the different spaces we use in our school
