Our Albany Huskies Football players are also involved in several community “Off of the field” activities as well. These experiences give our athletes opportunities to achieve one of our program goals: to be good citizens, develop empathy for others, and learn to respect and take care of each other.

Miracle League Volunteer Activity
Miracle League Volunteer Activity
On a Sunday evening each September, our players have the opportunity to volunteer at the Miracle League Softball Games at Whitney Fields in St. Cloud. The Miracle League is an organized group of teams whose participants are youth who have some degree of physical disabilities. Their courage and drive is matched only by their excitement and joy. Our players assist these amazing kids in many ways during the games and, in the end, both our players and the Miracle League participants have a blast! The life lessons our players gain by witnessing the fortitude of the Miracle Leaguers has a profound and positive impact on them that they will remember for a long time!

Tackle Cancer Activity
On a Friday night in early September, we have our annual Tackle Cancer Activity. During halftime of the Varsity game, our 9th grade Football players and coaches will invite anyone who is willing, to come down to Michael Field and tackle one of our soft tackling dummies for $1/tackle. All of the money raised goes to the Randy Shaver Tackle Cancer Foundation. It is definitely fun for all ages and the money goes to a really good cause!

Grades 10-12 Football Players Golf Scramble
Grades 10-12 Football Players Golf Scramble
The Albany Huskies are known for being a hard hitting group on the gridiron, but they can also hit a golf ball too! They get a chance to show their skills out on the Albany Golf Course each August during our Football Players Golf Scramble. This activity kind of breaks up the routine of the August Football Conditioning week by venturing over to the course and being part of a fun team-building activity. Players in grades 10-12 are invited to participate and any/all Golf skill levels are welcome. This activity is loads of fun and good belly laughs are par for the course!

You may also see our Albany Football players in grades 9-12 canvassing the town and knocking on doors to sell our Football Gold Cards. They are $20 cards that are loaded with discounts from many of our generous local businesses. The money raised from this fundraiser benefits our players in many ways throughout the season.
