My name is Ms. DeRousse, and I am thrilled to welcome you to another exciting year of Physical Education here at Chute Middle School. This will be my fourth year teaching PE in District 65, and I previously taught at Haven. I graduated from the University of Kansas in 2022 with my Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education—Rock Chalk!
Soccer has been a significant part of my life, and this year marks my third year coaching club soccer for JaHbat, along with my second year as the JV2 girls soccer coach at ETHS. When I'm not teaching or coaching, I enjoy traveling, spending quality time with friends and family, attending sporting events, and hanging out with my dog, Kash. I'm also an avid baseball fan and love to cheer on my St. Louis Cardinals! I also spend my time playing in a few competitive soccer leagues.
As your PE teacher, I want to share my philosophy on the importance of Physical Education. I believe that PE and health are crucial components of our lives, contributing significantly to overall well-being. My goal is for students to learn how to be physically active while enjoying the process. My classes will focus on all dimensions of health—physical, mental, emotional, and social. Most importantly, I aim to empower students with the knowledge, motivation, and skills they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
