Being in Orchestra is a privilege and a team effort! The following expectations will help us create a positive, respectful, and musical learning environment:
School rules apply here, too.
All school behavior expectations also apply during orchestra lessons, rehearsals, and performances.
We are a team. We are a family!
Orchestra is about making music together. Students are expected to be respectful, encouraging, and supportive of one another. Mistakes are part of learning! We grow by helping each other through them!
Be on time and ready.
Arrive on time to all lessons, rehearsals, and performances with everything you need.
Your attendance matters!
Every student is important to our orchestra’s sound. If you’re well enough to attend school, you’re well enough to attend orchestra. We count on each other!
You are responsible for missed classwork.
Students will not be excused from missed classroom assignments due to orchestra. Having an “orchestra buddy” who attends at a different time can help both of you stay on track and support each other.
Come prepared.
Always bring your instrument, music, binder, and a pencil to every rehearsal and lesson.
Come even if you forget something.
If you forget your instrument or music, you’re still expected to attend your lesson. It’s important to stay involved and learn what you can do at home to improve.
Stay committed and positive.
Learning an instrument is both exciting and challenging! Celebrate your progress and be patient with the hard parts. Being in orchestra is a full-year commitment. Perseverance and teamwork make us stronger musicians and people.
