Student Services!

The Student Services Department at BHS consists of school counselors, the school psychologist, and school social worker. All students are assigned a school counselor based on their last name, who will assist students with the following:

  • Course planning
  • Assistance with researching careers and colleges
  • Social-emotional concerns
  • Academic Advising


The mission of the Belvidere High School Counseling Department is to empower all learners through social-emotional, career, and academic development to achieve personal excellence.

Lunch & Learn College Application and Scholarship Tips and Tricks - November 1st, 11:47AM & 12:40PM:

Seniors & Juniors: Do you need some help writing your college admissions or scholarship essays? Want some tips on what to do and what not to do? Then plan to join University of Illinois-Springfield admissions counselor Aaron Boettcher for an informative Lunch & Learn opportunity on Wednesday, November 1st. Please see Mrs. Eklund in Student Services if you are interested in attending.

You Can Do ISU Event for Underrepresented/First Generation Students & Their Parents -- November 4th, 10AM-2PM:

Students - Will you be a first generation college student? Do you come from an underrepresented group in higher education? If so, Illinois State University is providing an amazing opportunity for you and one of your parents to visit ISU's campus in Bloomington/Normal on Saturday, November 4th for their You Can Do ISU event. The event will provide you and your parent with information about how to make an education at ISU possible. A tour of campus, free lunch, and the opportunity for seniors to apply on site will be available. Free bus transportation is also being offered on a first come, first served basis so visit www.IllinoisState.edu/YouCanDoISU to register. The deadline to register is October 25th, See your school counselor with any questions.

FAFSA Night for Spanish Speakers- Thursday November 9th, 5PM-7PM, Belvidere High School Computer Lab 208

Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be helping families fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance. You will need to bring:

  • Social Security Number
  • Your Alien Registration Number, If you (student) are not a U.S. Citizen
  • Your 2016 Federal tax returns, W-2's, and other records of income
  • Banking Statements and records of investments (if applicable)
  • An FSA ID to sign electronically (This can be created beforehand at fsaid.edu.gov, or at the time of application)
  • List of colleges you would like to attend
