About the Director

Scott Aska

A little about myself, I graduated from Indian Creek High School, and attended Eastern Illinois University for one year, studying Industrial Teachnology. I decided to make a career change half way through my freshman year. At this time I transferred to Western Illinois University. I graduated with my Bachelors in Music Education, and student taught in the Peoria Area.

My first teaching job was in Greenfield IL and Franklin IL. I was shared between two districts teaching 2-5 general music and beginning band in Franklin, and 5-12 band, and 9-12 Choir at Greenfield. After two years working in central Illinois, I decided to make a change, and accepted a position with the North Boone School District.

While teaching at North Boone from 2007-2011, my position continually evolved between teaching band and teaching choir. We brought back marching band to the High School, added an additional auditioned choir to the school curriculm at the high school level, and almost doubled the program size both vocally and instrumentally at the high school.

From 2012-2015, I worked in various positions at Algus Packaging in Dekalb. I worked in Thermoforming maintenance, electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, supervisor, and middle management. While I do enjoy hands on work, I felt that I needed to go back to education. There is a great value in doing what you love, and teaching music is my passion.

In June of 2015, I accepted the position with District 100 as director of Bands at Belvidere North High School. I am excited to continue my career with our district, and look forward to many years together.
