Our music store partner is Voigt Music Center in Janesville, WI. They visit our school every Wednesday to drop off orders (so you don't need to pay for shipping!) and/or pick up repairs (if your student needs their instruments repaired!). Voigt is a trusted company that is committed to working to make sure your student has all that they need, and in a timely manner. Other than Voigt, you can use any other music store or online website (such as Amazon) - but please know that we can not guarantee quality/timeliness from these other companies.

ALL STUDENTS NEED ...
Nametag (Like a luggage tag that can attach to the instrument's case - free with a rental from Voigt)
Folding Music Stand (If you don't already have something at home to hold music on)
BCMS Band Polo - $20 (Order Link will be sent home at the beginning of the year)
Financial restrictions will NEVER prevent your student from participating in band at Central.
Please reach out to Ms. Roechner (eroechner@district100.com) or Mr. Hunter (ahunter@distict100.com) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and PRIOR TO your student’s first day of band so we have time to help you out and make some accommodations.
If you already own an instrument, you do not need to rent a new one.
We highly encourage you to purchase from a reputable music store. If you are looking to purchase from an outlet other than a music store (eBay, Amazon, or elsewhere online), please be sure to check out this Quality Instrument Brands list compiled by band directors nationwide.
With band instruments, the general rule is buy nice or buy twice. An inexpensive instrument might seem like a great buy at the time of purchase, but repair shops cannot get replacement parts for “off-brand” instruments and they are often much more difficult to play than a good quality instrument. Your student will have the most success on a quality instrument that plays well. Also, to be completely honest, beginners tend to have lots of accidents when it comes to caring for their instruments so its ability to be repaired is crucial!
You may be able to find some of the same accessories offered on Voigt (specifically the music stand and reeds for clarinets) on amazon cheaper but the quality between brands varies A LOT. We strongly encourage you to buy directly from Voigt to avoid buying something of lower quality on Amazon that will require you to replace more often (potentially costing more in the long run).
