Promotion Bags: Mr. Pedersen gave out gowns and 5 graduation tickets to each of our 8th graders today. Here is the informational sheet that was discussed as well. Please reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.
Graduation Logistics: On May 28th, we will be having our 8th Grade Awards Ceremony, starting at 8:45am. Parents of award winners will be contacted and allowed to attend. Shortly after our awards ceremony concludes, our 8th graders will practice for graduation and will be sent outside for a BBQ lunch afterwards. At 11:55am their buses will pick them up and they will be brought home. We ask that they return to the school by 5:30pm with their gowns on and any saches, pins, or cords they have earned while at West Oak. We will then have them line up in our Innovation Center and our graduation ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00pm. Tickets will be required for attendance to graduation and due to limited parking, we ask people to carpool if able.
High 5 Friday Celebration: We are excited to share that the Countryside Fire Protection District will be joining District 76 on the last day of school, Friday, May 29th for a special “High 5 Friday” celebration! Firefighters will help welcome students to school as we celebrate an incredible year together with music, bubbles, smiles, High 5's and lots of school spirit. We are grateful for the outstanding partnership and support the Countryside Fire Department has shown our schools throughout the year and look forward to ending the year on a fun and positive note for our students.
Kirk's Players: The Kirk Players will offer free theater workshops for children ages 7-12 at West Oak Middle School! Here is the flyer for more information.
Diamond Awards: New to this year, we ask families to complete this nomination Form if they would like to recognize a staff member they feel are going above and beyond with what they do in the classroom, school, or district. Please consider spreading the positivity bys highlighting the great work that staff our doing in our district.
Free Soccer Program: A free soccer program for students of District 76 is available for this summer. The program will include practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with summer league games on Saturday mornings and early afternoons. This is a 3 month, 3 days a week program. The structure is very similar to what families would experience in a club setting for soccer and other sports. There is no cost to participate, just a one time $40 cost for the uniform as it is in partnership with MLS. The location is split betweent practices at Behm Park and Saturday games at Fremont school. Please review the flyers below to sign up.
