In accordance with Erin’s Law, all Illinois public schools are required to provide age-appropriate lessons each year to help students recognize unsafe situations, understand personal body safety, and know how to seek help from trusted adults. We will be presenting the lesson(s) during the weeks of November 2, 2026 through November 13, 2026.
These lessons are designed to empower students with knowledge and skills to protect themselves. They focus on:
Understanding the difference between safe and unsafe touches
Identifying trusted adults at home and school
Learning how to say “no” and get help when feeling unsafe
Recognizing personal boundaries and respect for others
The lessons are presented in a sensitive, age-appropriate manner by our trained staff and/or approved curriculum resources. Our goal is to ensure students feel safe, supported, and informed.
If you have questions about the content of these lessons or wish to review the materials before they are presented please contact your school social worker by Wednesday, October 28, 2026:

Story time is a fan favorite at DLS! 📚 Our students love gathering on the carpet to listen to stories, share ideas, and think together. These special moments help build a love of reading while encouraging curiosity, imagination, and learning! 🐾💙
At DLS, we love celebrating bright ideas! 💡 In STEAM, students have opportunities to share their creative thinking and innovative ideas with their peers. We are so proud of our Cubs for thinking outside the box, learning from one another, and shining bright! 🐾
Our students use learning scales like this to track their progress toward learning targets. They take great pride in mastering new skills, celebrating their growth, and showing what they know! We love seeing our Cubs take ownership of their learning! 🐾
Lunch Time Volunteers: Our food service company is offering monthly tastings of new menu items! We are looking for volunteers to help pass out samples during lunch periods. Each school will participate on a different day. If you would like to help, please sign up here. Thank you for supporting our students!
Winter Clothing Drive | October 19–November 6: Winter is coming, and we want to help keep our community warm! Please notify the office of your donation to receive a raffle entry for prizes at the Día de los Muertos Celebration. Thank you for helping families in our community stay warm this winter!
