Newsletters I will post so you can view what is happening in your child's English Language Arts classroom.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This year is flying by, but luckily we have a few fun activities to look forward to. First and foremost, I hope all students and parents who went, enjoyed the field trip to Feed My Starving Children. Serving the community with Prairie Grove Junior High is certainly one of the highlights during the school year. Thank you to all the students and parents who attended us on that wonderful field trip. The day was filled with so much fun and hard work.
This semester, we will be discussing risk taking in contact sports. Students are to submit their final argumentative advertisement presentations on Google Classroom for Language Arts. Students are to present their argumentative presentations at the end of the contact sports unit. Next, we will be moving into a fascinating unit about Edgar Allan Poe. Poe is one of my favorite poets, so I am extremely excited to begin this unit. Students will begin the unit by writing a biography of Edgar Allan Poe, as his life is quite interesting. Students will then be asked to create their own biographies written about an infamous person in history. Students will also discuss fairy tales. In this unit, students will read the Grimm's Bothers versions of fairy tales. Students end goal is to create their own fairy tales and be able to eloquently elaborate on fairy tale topics in a socratic seminar.
I will update this newsletter as the year progresses. As always, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns. You will find my email at the bottom of this web page. Thanks so much!
