Megan Einert's Seventh and Eighth Grade English Language Arts Classroom
Class Overview in 7th Grade
I have the seventh grade Language Arts standards posted in my classroom on a bulletin board marked "Grade 7 Learning Standards."
Seventh grade Language Arts will begin the year by constructing essays which entail if they believe elephants should be left in the wild, brought to sanctuaries or kept in captivity in zoos. These will be their first formative assessments of the school year.
Class Overview in 8th Grade
I have the eighth grade Language Arts standards posted in my classroom on a bulletin board marked "Learning Standards Grade 8."
Eighth grade Literature will begin the year by discussing if risk taking is worth the risks in various sports. Students will read articles, participate in debates, and develop a broad vocabulary during the course of this lesson.
Eighth grade Language Arts will begin the year by arguing if topics of appeal are pathos, logos, or ethos. Students will write argumentative paragraphs, on a topic of their choosing, and incorporate evidence and analysis with various examples of pathos, logos, and ethos. The end goal of this unit is for students to be able to write an argumentative essay on whether or not they believe sports are worth the risk.

Google Classroom is what Students use Everyday in my Classroom
Pictured above is the Google Classroom icon. Students work in my Google Classroom every single day. Daily assignments and tasks are posted on Google Classroom. Every single one of my classes has their very own Google Classroom with learning materials and daily activities attached. Being able to navigate Google Classroom is essential for success in my class. Under "stream" on Google Classroom, I have posted daily tasks and assignments. If a student is out for the day, the student should turn to Google Classroom to reference what they have missed.
