Did you know that 95% of the problems can be fixed by clearing the history and/or resetting the Chromebook. If this doesn't apply to you or fix the problem - complete a tech support ticket. If it's a software question, call Ms. Bullock - (504-699-7406) If you complete a ticket, we will contact you shortly with a resolution or option to drop off your device and possibly get a loaner.
Often this will repair an issue. All you'll need to do is turn off the device and wait 15 seconds and turn back on the device.
Try a different power input - some chromebooks have a power input on each side.
Try a different electrical outlet (it's happened)
In Chrome, go to the three dots at the very top right, more tools, clear browsing data.
This will bring up the clear browsing data window.
Click advanced at the top and check all the boxes.
Make sure Time Range is set to all time.
Check every box EXCEPT two: "Passwords and other sign-in data" and "Autofill form data".
Once everything is checked, click clear data.
Turn off the computer and then turn back on the computer.
Try it to see if your problem is solved - if not try a reset.
Step 1: Click the System Clock located in the bottom-right corner.
Step 2: Click the Gear icon located on the pop-up menu. This takes you to Settings.
Step 3: Click About Chrome OS listed on the left.
Step 4: Click the Check for Updates button. This checks for the latest version and installs the update if available.
Step 5: If your Chromebook is updated, click the Restart button to complete.
Hold down the ESC Key, the Refresh Key (the circle with an arrow on it) and then the Power Key - press all at same time. The computer will reboot.
When the device turns back on with the message "Chrome OS is missing or damaged" or "Please insert the SD card". Press CTRL+D at the same time.
Next message will be "To turn OS verification OFF, press ENTER." Press enter and the Chromebook will restart.
When it comes back on - message will be "OS verification is OFF" and then press enter to confirm. Now wait, and it will reboot after a few seconds.
You will need connect to wifi at this point. If you are on campus connect to the Student network and if you are at home, connect to your own wifi.
It will check for updates, and then newer versions will automatically redo the enterprise enrollment, but if not - message will be "Enterprise Enrollment'. If it did not automatically re-enroll , and does not have this message, press CTRL+ALT+E at the same time to bring up enterprise enrollment.
If enrollment didn't happen automatically, the student will then use their email and password to enroll the device. You will have to type their whole email including the @students.discoveryhsf.org part.
It will take a minute or two to enroll, and then afterwards you should be able to log in as normal.
The Chromebook has been successfully reset.
