I hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the State University of Maringá (1996), a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002), and a Ph.D. in Computing from the Federal University of Paraná (2013), which included a research internship at INESC TEC (Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science) in Porto, Portugal. I completed two postdoctoral research periods, one at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (2020) and another at the Center for Informatics of the Federal University of Pernambuco (CIn-UFPE) in 2025.
Since 2006, I have been a faculty member at the Department of Informatics at UEM (State University of Maringá), where I currently serve as an Associate Professor. I have been a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PCC/UEM) since 2014. Since 2021, I have held a Level 2 Research Productivity Fellowship from CNPq.
I co-lead the Intelligent Interactive Systems research group at UEM and have maintained an active international research collaboration with the University of Padua (Italy) since 2014. I also collaborate with researchers from the Federal University of Paraná, the Federal University of Pernambuco, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná.
My research has resulted in over 100 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences, primarily focused on machine learning and pattern recognition. As of February 10, 2025, my h-index is 25 according to Google Scholar.
I served two terms (2014–2017) as the coordinator of the Computer Science undergraduate program at UEM. Over the years, I have supervised more than 100 undergraduate students in research and final projects, and have been involved in supervising approximately 20 Master's and Ph.D. theses.
