REDCap is a secure web application for the creation and management of on-line report databases, including the possibility of creating surveys. Although REDCap can be used to collect almost any type of data in any environment (including compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, FISMA, HIPAA and GDPR), it has been specifically devised to support the creation of medical/health databases with the acquisition of on- and off-line data in clinical or observational studies. Access to RedCap is via a web interface, accessible from both PC and app (Android or iOS). Data can also be entered via app off-line with periodic synchronisation (once connected).

The REDCap project supports retrospective and prospective clinical research by leveraging the REDCap platform for secure, structured data management. The project involves the design and implementation of tailored Case Report Forms (CRFs), systematic data collection, quality control procedures, and data cleaning to ensure accuracy and reliability. 

Key activities include:

• data extraction and transformation to enhance readability and analysis

• monitoring user activity through audit trails to ensure traceability and compliance

REDCap@DIMES strengthens clinical research by promoting reproducibility, improving data governance, and streamlining workflows across medical and scientific teams.
