The mission of the Ministry of Health and Population is to provide strategic leadership for the delivery of a comprehensive range of quality, accessible, and efficient health services to all Malawians through the creation and sustenance of a strong health system.

PRESIDENT’S EMERGENCY PLAN FOR AIDS RELIEF (PEPFAR): The U.S. government, through PEPFAR, is proud to partner with the people and Government of Malawi in accelerating Malawi's progress toward achieving HIV/AIDS epidemic control. In Fiscal Year 2018, with a focus on 10 high-burden districts in Malawi to maximize impact.

The Organized Network of Services for Everyone’s (ONSE) Health Activity is USAID/Malawi’s flagship program for health. The five-year Activity aims to reduce maternal, newborn, and child morbidity and mortality, working in 16 districts and providing support to more than 400 health facilities which provide essential primary health care services to over half of Malawi’s population.

ONSE Health will execute interventions in health systems strengthening and four priority health areas: family planning and reproductive health; maternal, newborn, and child health; malaria; and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

These interventions will contribute to the achievement of the Activity’s four results:

1. Access to priority health services increased
2. Quality of priority health services improved
3. Performance of health systems strengthened
4. Demand for priority health services increased

ONSE Health focuses primarily at the district, facility, and community levels, but it also includes some key technical assistance at the central and zonal levels in specific areas.

Building on successes in integrated health care service delivery, ONSE Health works with community, civil society, and government partners to improve the quality of these primary health care services.

Dimagi was founded in 2002 out of the MIT Media Lab and the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology programs.
