Welcome to Art at Dillon Middle School!

Hello and welcome! My name is Tessa Bartlome, and I am thrilled to be the Art Teacher here at Dillon Middle School.

I am incredibly excited about teaching art and cultivating an inspiring, creative, and interactive environment for our students. It is my core belief that art deeply benefits a child's intellectual, personal, and social development.

In our art studio, I encourage all students to create and respond to the visual arts. To prepare them for the modern world, we will be incorporating the latest digital technology alongside traditional mediums, all while aligning with our academic art standards.

🎨 My Grading Philosophy: Effort Over Talent

I believe that every child is an artist. In this class, students are graded on effort, not talent.

Come Ready to Work: Success in art comes from trying new things and practicing.
Keep a Positive Attitude: A willingness to learn is all it takes.
You CAN DO IT! If a student brings focus and a positive mindset to class, they will succeed.

Art Room Expectations

1. Always be on time and prepared for class-this includes attending to your personal needs before class.

2. Respect the classroom materials and the environment.

3. Respect yourself, your work, and the work of others.

4. Be a responsible worker, work quietly and cleanly. You are responsible for your work area and tools.

5. Always speak with good purpose.

6. Remember you are graded on effort-not talent. So come to class with a positive attitude every day.

Grading:

Sketches and Vocabulary-20 points (10 pts each)

Behavior/Classroom Expectations-10 points

Effort/Participation-10 points

Completed Work/Skill Development-60 points

Grades are updated every Thursday afternoon!
