35j of the 2024 State School Aid Act provided $140,000,000 to Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) and Intermediate School Districts (ISDs) to improve literacy instructional practices by investing in quality, research-based best practices, and professional learning. To assist the LEAs, our DIISD invited all six districts to allow us to apply on their behalf, and four of them participated. We are currently working with Breitung Township, Forest Park, Norway-Vulcan and North Dickinson school districts to assess and determine their literacy needs, create comprehensive literacy plans, provide the required professional development, and order necessary literacy supplies for students and teachers.
