Google is raising the price on its set of office productivity tools by 20 percent.
The company, Google, announced the first price increases for two flavors of Google Workspace, its set of apps that resemble Google Docs and Sheets but are tailored for the office. Google Workspace Basic Edition is going from $5 per user per month to $6, while Google Workspace Business Edition will go from $10 per user per month to $12.
It's the first time Google has raised the prices on the two suites. Google said the price of its Google Workspace Enterprise Edition, which includes lots of enterprise-level administration and management tools, will remain at $25 per month per user.
Google Workspace Basic will go from $5 to $6 a month and see a steeper increase from $50 to $72 for a year's commitment.
Google Workspace Business, which offers more enterprise-grade features, will climb from $10 to $12 a month, and a proportional $120 to $144 per year.
Why charge more for Google Workspace?
Google says that it’s been aggressive about adding new apps, features, and benefits (such as increased storage) over the years, so the suite will still offer plenty of value even at the new pricing.
