Google raises G Suite Basic, business prices by 20 percent for the first time in a decade since launch.

Google is raising the price on its set of office productivity tools by 20 percent.

The company, Google, announced the first price increases for two flavors of G Suite, its set of apps that resemble Google Docs and Sheets but are tailored for the office.

Google says that over the last ten years, G Suite has grown to provide more products. "The one thing that hasn't changed over this time is price," the post says.

It's the first time Google has raised the prices on the two suites. Google said the price of its G Suite Enterprise Edition, which includes lots of enterprise-level administration and management tools, will remain at $25 per month per user.

  • G Suite Basic will go from $5 to $6 a month and see a steeper increase from $50 to $72 for a year's commitment.
  • G Suite Business, which offers more enterprise-grade features, will climb from $10 to $12 a month, and a proportional $120 to $144 per year.

See Google G Suite New Pricing in a tabular form below:

Why charge more for G Suite?

Google says that it’s been aggressive about adding new apps, features, and benefits (such as increased storage) over the years, so the suite will still offer plenty of value even at the new pricing. In fact, the company created an infographic showing how G Suite has grown:

Google will continue to offer free accounts for non-business users.

The new pricing will go into effect on April 2; those on annual plans will pay the new price when their contract renews after that date.
