La Diáspora is located at 91 Baxter st, in Chinatown, NYC, and we offer delicious, authentic, and modern Mexican cuisine, which can be paired with local beer, craft cocktails, and New York State wine.
All of our dishes are proudly prepared in-house, and our menu specializes in non-GMO, heirloom corn, which is sourced from small farmers in Mexico.
Hand-painted tropical imagery, old-school cherry wood panels, well-worn, salmon-colored seating booths, and eclectic music playlists provide the ambiance, but our attentive, friendly, and professional staff is also ready to provide exceptional service.
With two separate dining rooms — each featuring 65 seats — plus a full, separate bar, La Diáspora can accommodate over 165 seated guests, or up to 180 in standing room format, in its approximately 5000 sq ft.
Private events, including large, buffet-style dinners, film shoots, panels, corporate mixers, weddings, birthdays, and more, can be hosted in our intimate, but casual setting.
The three spaces — main bar, the front dining room, and the rear lounge — are connected, but can be booked individually, and each room features its own sound system, screens, and microphones.
With over 5000ft, La Diáspora can host up to 180 guests in a standing room format.
Prix Fixe (6 to 14 guests),

Parties looking to have lunch, or dinner, with groups of 6 to 14 guests can opt for a prix fixe menu.

We offer the following menu, but please be aware that some dishes are subject to last minute changes due to availability.

Appetizers:
Guacamole & tostadas (vegan)
Choose one main:

Our tacos are served over hand-made, heirloom corn tortillas with a side of salsa “taquera.”
2) Bone Marrow Smashed Burger: Beer patty smashed on a brioche bun, caramelized onions, pickles, cheese, greens, and bone marrow aioli.

Churros & cajeta (dulce de leche)
Large groups:
Room Fees, Minimums, And Buffet Trays.
La Diáspora welcomes large groups looking to celebrate with friends, friends-to-be, family, or coworkers.
Each one of our two dining rooms can seat up to 65 guests, or be switched to a standing room format, which will increase the capacity to 80+ guests per dining room (Note: some seating will still be available in a standing room setting).
Our two dining rooms can also be combined, as they connect through a hallway, for a total of up to 180 guests in standing room format.
Room Fees & Minimums
Groups of 20 to 35 guests have the option to book one half of a dining room with no room fees. However, a $500 minimum spend will be imposed.
Groups with over 35 guests can book a full dining room with a minimum spend of $25 per guest. (To give an example, if you’re looking to host 50 guests in one dining room, your minimum spend would total $1250.)
These rates guarantee the space for 3 hours.
Large groups have the option to do separate tabs, and those tabs will count towards a group’s minimum, including the consumption of any drink & food.
However, we don’t do table service for large groups with separate tabs, and all drink & food orders will need to be placed at the main bar, where guests will be able to open individual tabs.
If guests prefer to do without minimums, dining rooms may be leased for $400 per hour.
Please note: these prices do not include taxes & gratuity (20%).
Buffet Trays:
For 15 to 160+ guests
For guests looking to book a large gathering in one of our two private dining rooms — or both — we offer trays, which are served buffet style on electric warmers.
Please note: trays must be ordered at least 3 days in advance, and there’s a 4 tray minimum.
Trays must also be paid in full 3 days before an event, and they are non-refundable.
Each tray serves 15 guests,
so scale up accordingly:
Guacamole & tostadas (vegan), $112
House-cut fries & ketchup (vegan), $120
Potato taquitos (vegetarian), $112
Cheese quesadillas (vegetarian), $120
Quesadillas w/filling (chicken, chorizo, al pastor mushrooms), $165

In addition to our great cocktails, we offer a wide selection of beer styles (lagers, pilsners, IPAs, witbiers, hefeweizens, porters), and single vineyard wines, with a particular focus on NY state (Finger Lakes, North Fork, Hudson Valley).
Great For Large, Mixed Groups:
Drink Tickets
We understand that organizing an event for a large, eclectic group of guests is no easy feat, which is why we offer a simple, and accessible solution: drink tickets.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 a piece, and guests can exchange them for any beer, draft wine, mixed well, shots, frozen drinks, or mocktails.
Great For Small Groups:
Pitchers
Our margarita, red sangria, and beer pitchers are some of our most popular, cost-effective crowd-pleasers, and are especially ideal for small groups.

Additional Information
Decorations, such as flower arrangements, small centerpieces, and balloons are allowed, but piñatas and confetti are not. Nothing may be taped on the wall, as it damages the vintage paint, unless blue painter’s tape is used.
Corkage, cakeage, outside food:
There’s a $35 corkage fee per bottle for any wine that is not purchased from us.
Outside cakes are allowed, but there will be a $3 fee per guest to cover plating, napkins, etc (a “cakeage” fee). You can avoid the "cakeage" fee by bringing your own utensils, plates, and napkins, which we encourage.
Besides desserts, no outside food is allowed.
Additional charges:
All the prices listed on this guide do not include taxes, or gratuity, which is why a standard 8.875% New York Sales tax, and 20% gratuity, will be applied to all subtotals, in addition to a 3% fee, if paying with credit card.
