GLOBAL STANDARDS
Several standards exist for semantics and Syntatic Interoperability in additional to non-functional domains. :
Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM): DICOM is the international standard to transmit, store, retrieve, print, process, and display medical imaging information.
Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR): FHIR, based on HL7, is the syntatic interoperability standard essential for exchange of healthcare information between healthcare providers, patients, caregivers, payers, researchers, and anyone else involved in the healthcare ecosystem. It consists of 2 main parts – a content model in the form of ‘resources’, and a specification for the exchange of these resources.
International Classification of Diseases (ICD): ICD is the international standard for the systematic recording, reporting, analysis, interpretation and comparison of mortality and morbidity data. Latest version is eleven.
International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI): ICHI is a common tool for reporting and analyzing health interventions for clinical and statistical purposes. ICHI covers interventions carried out by a broad range of providers across the full scope of health systems.
Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC): LOINC is an international standard for identifying health measurements, observations, and documents.
Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT): SNOMED- CT is a set of standards for a codified language that represents groups of clinical terms. This enables healthcare information to be exchanged globally for the benefit of patients and other stakeholders.
Internation Standards Organization ISO Standards: A range of Health Informatics standards authored or adopted by the Technical Committee of the ISO. Notable are those of TC215, and others IEC and those of medical devices.
