Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional Learning is an important component of Herrick's curriculum and culture. Social emotional learning is taught on Wednesdays, twice a month, in our home base classes. For these lessons, Herrick uses the Second Step resource, which is also used by our elementary schools in District 58. Social emotional learning standards are also incorporated into our content areas, and are a part of the culture here at Herrick. We strive to provide students with a comprehensive program to ensure that these life skills are a part of our students' experience throughout their day.
