Participants may arrive either at Istanbul Airport (IST), the city’s main international airport, or at Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), located on the Asian side of Istanbul. Both airports are well connected to the city center.
From either airport, participants can easily reach Taksim Square by using the airport shuttle services, which operate approximately every 30 minutes.
Getting around Istanbul is straightforward thanks to the city’s extensive and efficient public transportation network, particularly the metro system, which connects major districts and points of interest.
We recommend purchasing an Istanbul transport card (Istanbulkart) and loading it with Turkish lira upon arrival. The card can be conveniently recharged when needed and allows seamless access to metro lines, trams, buses, and other public transportation services.
For accommodation, we strongly recommend staying in the Cihangir district, located near Taksim Square.
Cihangir is one of Istanbul’s most central and vibrant European neighborhoods, offering convenient access both to Bogazici University via metro and to the city’s cultural attractions, restaurants, and evening activities.
A wide range of hotels and apartments is available in this area through major booking platforms. Participants are encouraged to search according to their preferences and budget.
Ideally, try to find your accomodation within the area highlighted in blue on the conference map; however, any hotel or apartment within the broader red-circled area will also provide excellent accessibility and convenience during the conference stay. The green-circled area is likewise an excellent option, although it is somewhat less convenient for reaching the main historical sites.
Boğaziçi University is easily accessible through Istanbul’s metro network.
From the Taksim area, participants can take the M2 metro line in the direction of Hacıosman and get off at Levent station. There, a convenient transfer is available to the M6 metro line, which directly connects Levent to Boğaziçi Üniversitesi/Hisarüstü station. The university campus is located just a short walk from the final stop.
The journey from Taksim to the university typically takes around 25–30 minutes, making neighborhoods along the M2 line particularly convenient for conference participants.
Participants staying in the Sultanahmet / Old City area may first take the metro to Yenikapı, continue on the M2 line to Levent, and then transfer to the M6 line toward Boğaziçi Üniversitesi/Hisarüstü.
