Here is our current newsletter from Schavey Road Elementary
Last Chance: Yearbook ordering closes Monday!
It's fieldtrip season! Make sure to keep an eye on your classroom newsletter for more information
Calling our office as soon as you know your child will need to miss school helps us update our records and lets you avoid getting a confirmation phone call from us. Please call and report all absences or tardies at 668-3547.
Follow the QR code or go to ybpay.lifetouch.com to order your yearbook!
Please email wsb@dewittschools.net to sign up! Your student will walk with parent volunteers and meet you at Schavey Plaza. It's a quick walk and they leave right at dismissal, so you'll likely have them in hand faster than you'd be able to get them from the deck!
Schavey Road implements a "no nut" policy due to life threatening allergies. Please do not send your student to school with any snacks or meals that include nuts, including peanut butter. If a student does bring a snack or lunch to school that contains nuts, they will be given an alternative to enjoy and a note will come home to request a different food in the future. Thank you for helping keep all our students safe!
We're at an age and time of year where students are frequently coming to the office to change. If you could please make sure your child has a change of clothes (pants, shirt, socks, and underwear) in their backpack, that would help make things much easier on both your student and school staff when they need to change.
If your child does end up borrowing school clothes, we would very much appreciate you washing and returning them to us so that they are available for another child in need.
We will not provide new clothing for students who are playing in the mud. They may change if they brought their own spare set, or the office will give them wipes to help clean up as best as we can.
We are currently low on boys and girls underwear in size 4/5 if you are able to donate!
Please be sure to check the hot lunch choice each day and the secondary choice for the week (sunbutter will always be our third option). We find that things go much smoother when students are signed up for a choice that features foods they like and will reliably want to eat. Thank you!
Please check out this awesome resource from our Dean of Students, Mrs. Cochrane!
Problem Solving Visual
Students have been using our school-wide problem solving visual (see below). We read "Hammerhead's Recess Challenge", reviewed steps we can take to calm our bodies when we have a big feeling and discussed words we can use to solve problems with peers.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, are in need of any resources and/or you need anything at all. I'm looking forward to a great school year with all of our Schavey families!

Totally 90’s Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week – May 4–8
This year, we’re throwing it back with a Totally 90’s theme as we celebrate the incredible teachers and staff who make a difference in our schools every single day. From bright colors to fun throwbacks, we’re creating a week full of appreciation, nostalgia, and gratitude to show our staff just how much they mean to our community.

Chalk the Walk – Sunday, May 3 (weather permitting)
Help us kick off Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week by decorating the sidewalks at all four elementary schools with encouraging messages and artwork. Supplies will be available throughout the day.
Spirit Week (May 4–8)
While we shower our staff with love, students can join in the fun by participating in our themed Spirit Days! Participate as much or as little as you’d like.
