Consider signing up for concurrent enrollment. If you are in 11th or 12th grade and have made good grades throughout school or scored well on the ACT or SAT, you might consider taking credit-earning college courses while still in high school.

A high school student may enroll in a combined number of high school and college courses per semester not to exceed a full-time college workload of 19 semester credit hours. For purposes of calculating workload, one-half high school unit shall be equivalent to three semester credit hours of college work.

Look into local colleges for prices and what works best for your family.
Apply to the college of your choice. Be sure to apply as a concurrent student. In the application, you will be asked for counselor and principal approval; this will be emailed to us as soon as the application is submitted.
Let Mrs. Chronister know that you applied to a college by filling out the transcript request form in her front office.
Once accepted to the college, you will receive an email from them prompting you to meet with an adviser to enroll in your college classes. You will enroll in the classes or your choice or suggested by Mrs. Chronister to best fit your graduation plan and we will build your high school schedule around those concurrent classes.
Students are allowed 1 high school class hour per college class plus 1 drive hour. Example: student is taking 2 college classes, they will get 3 hours for for their high school schedule.
Dewey High School Gifted & Talented students will receive a reimbursement of 1/2 of their concurrent college fees.

Steps for getting your reimbursement:
Pay for your concurrent college course.
Complete & pass your concurrent college course.
Bring an itemized receipt showing payment of the course(s) to the high school office within 7 days of course completion.

Current RSU students do not have to reapply to continue with the next semester of concurrent RSU classes. Parents will need to complete the permission form link below and the student will need to inform Mrs. Chronister so she can complete the permission as well.
