Frequently Asked Questions

Students wishing to join Talented Art must first be nominated for screening by their parent or any of their teachers to the School Building Level Committee.  If the SBLC decides to screen the student they will request samples of the student's artwork.  IMPORTANT: Please provide good color copies of student artwork.  Originals will not be returned!  A panel of three unbiased professionals will assess the student's work and recommend them for final testing (or not).  Finally, the student will take a test.  If the student passes the test the Talented Art teacher will meet with that student's parent(s) or guardian(s) and the student will be scheduled for Talented Art class the following semester.

NDMS:  Talented Art students at NDMS are pulled from an elective such as PE once per week to attend Talented Art for 50 minutes.  The specific day and time depends on the student's schedule each year.

NDHS:  Talented Art students at NDHS attend Talented Art one of two ways: as a WIN class or as a Weekly class.   WIN class students are enrolled in Talented Art as a WIN class and attend Talented Art every morning during WIN period.  Weekly students are pulled from an elective such as PE once per week to attend Talented Art for one period.  The specific day and time depends on the student's schedule each year.
