Instruction

Instruction is both an art and a science. While educators come with the heart and passion for instruction, it is up to us as craftsmen to continue to develop our technical skill. This page compiles several resources that align with the district vision, commitments, and systems.

Students come to school to learn and to learn how to learn. The Gradual Release of Responsibility framework is a way of designing instruction to provide students multiple varied opportunities to access the learning material.

At times, we might need to shift our instructional delivery methods based on safety recommendations and student need. This page provides training resources for students, families, and teachers to navigate migrating among instructional delivery methods.

Title I is a section of the originally authorized Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), since reauthorized in 2015 as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). It provides schools with a funding source to address needs in the areas of academics. At De Soto, we are schoolwide, which means that every student, regardless of any designation or qualification, is eligible to take advantage of these resources. We use these funds to offer both pull-out and push-in reading and math services, delivered by Title I teachers and paras. Each year, we participate in an annual needs assessment and hold fall and spring meetings. Every three years, we participate in monitoring with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). For more information about our Title services, visit this page.

TASK is our before-school extended learning program offered grades K-12. This page will provide information on accessing these services and details of the program.
