Most people I know “know” Yeshua because there was a personal connection between them and the eternal G-d. But the “personal experience” component is true of the deluded and the dangerous as well. A result a recent survey of Americans opinions about sacred texts showed that
- 33% agree that following the Koran’s teachings would be harmful for American society.
- 14% agree that following the Bible’s teachings would be harmful for American society.
- Following the Bible’s teachings would be good for American society: Women are more likely to agree than men (85% v 75%) . Those age 35-44 (75%) are less likely to agree than those age 55-64 (84%)
So people are skeptical and getting more skeptical of the absolutes and more likely to believe in a set of values that is of their own choosing. So knowing the case for Yeshua is more important than ever.
Yeshua is not the western version of Islam, he is not the thing Jews don’t believe in, he is not “sort of like yoga”, “whatever works for you”, or politically correct. He is the Messiah.
Mankind is broken. Messiah brings life. He leads us back to right standing with our creator. He is the atonement required for a broken world.
Here is why we need a Messiah (link)
- Messiah is born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)
- Messiah is the seed of David (Isaiah 11:1)
- Messiah is called “Wonderful,” Counselor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:5-6)
- Messiah is a prophet like unto Moses (Deuteronomy 18:15-18)
- Messiah comes before the destruction of the second Temple which happened in 70 AD (Daniel 9:26)
- Messiah is despised and forsaken by men (Isaiah 53:3)
- Messiah suffers and die for the sins of His people, and the world (Isaiah 53:5-6)
- Messiah dies by His hands and feet being pierced (Psalm 22:14-19)
- Messiah is raised from the dead by God’s hand (Psalm 16:10, Isaiah 53:10)
- Messiah is to come again in the clouds of heaven to judge the world and set up His kingdom of peace (Daniel 7:13)
