Super Bowl LV

On Sunday, February 7th, the 55th Super Bowl was played in Tampa Bay. The two teams who participated this year were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs. While the typical events occurred during the Super Bowl this year, the half time show performance and the entertaining commercials were a little different due to COVID. Everyone at the stadium was wearing a mask and about a quarter of the stadium was full this year. Additionally, as an appreciation to the health care workers, a large amount of the people able to be at the stadium were health care workers who have worked tirelessly to help with COVID. The National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl was a duet by Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan and the halftime show was performed by The Weeknd. Some people really enjoyed the Weeknd’s performance while others thought it was boring and fell flat. However, the halftime show was not the only thing that people thought fell flat this year; the game was also not as exciting as it could have been. The Buccaneers beat the Chiefs 31 to 9 and the Chiefs were not able to score a touchdown the entire game. Throughout the game, Mahomes struggled to get good passes to his teammates and was not able to find many great opportunities for a pass. The Buccaneers defense was great throughout the game, which is part of the reason why the Chiefs were not able to score a touchdown. They stayed on top of their players and did not allow the Chiefs to advance many yards on each of their possessions. Another highlight of the game was the 2 touchdowns Robert Gronkowski scored and the touchdown made by Antonio Brown and Leonard Fournette. Gronkowski came out of retirement this year to play with Brady on the Buccaneers and the great bond they share showed on the field with Brady’s touchdown passes to Gronkowski. Tom Brady now has 7 Super Bowl rings and it is not looking like he will retire any time soon. Overall Super Bowl 55 is now completed and people are looking forward to Super Bowl 56 in Los Angeles next year.
