About

MISSION

As the official Palm Desert High School newspaper, our mission is to engage the PDHS community through timely, accurate reporting. To that end, we report on recent campus developments, school and professional sports, current events, and entertainment news; we also offer fresh perspectives on issues that impact high schoolers through our opinion section.

The Spear is entirely student-run; all writing, editing, and formatting is by our newspaper staff, comprised of PDHS students from all grades in the journalism program. However, we do welcome student submissions! If you are a PDHS student interested in photography, journalism, creative writing, or art, please contact kyle.saad@desertsands.us about seeing your work published in the newspaper.

We also accept letters to the editor. Letters must meet school regulations on profanity, libel, etc. and must be signed; if judged to be appropriate, they may be published. Address your letter to the editor and email it, signed, to kyle.saad@desertsands.us.

ETHICS

As a student-run publication, we are dedicated to a strict code of journalistic honesty and transparency. We strive to avoid bias within our reporting. Everything we publish is accurate, as far as we are aware; readers will be notified of any errors as quickly as possible.
