Attendance Policy
Regular, consistent attendance and participation is required in order for the therapeutic process to work. Once a therapy session is scheduled, that time slot is reserved specifically for you. As a Desert Sand, LLC client, you are expected to attend sessions scheduled by your therapist.
In the event of sickness or emergency, cancellations are to be made at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment. Although 24 hours is the minimum, if you need to cancel or reschedule, please give as much notice as possible. You may also inquire whether there is an option to meet via telehealth if you’re unable to attend an in-person session. Please note that telehealth may not always be an available option due to technological issues.
Please note the following:
No-contact absences (aka no-shows) or late cancellations (cancellations made by client within 24 hours of appointment time) for initial appointments with new clients will not be rescheduled.
Established self-pay clients will be subject to a fee of the full rate for psychotherapy sessions for each no-contact absence or late cancellation that occurs. This must be paid prior to scheduling the next appointment. This fee is waived for RMHP Medicaid clients in compliance with state Medicaid regulation.
Two (2) no-contact absences or late cancellations during a two-month (60 day) period will result in losing a fixed/recurring spot on my caseload. Should this occur, I can offer you appointment times based on my availability from week to week. If no-contact absences or late cancellations continue to be frequent, I may need to remove you from my caseload altogether and can provide referrals for other providers.
If, unless otherwise arranged, I do not receive contact from you for more than thirty (30) days, your treatment may be considered “terminated.” Upon reinitiating contact, you may have the option of resuming therapy depending on my availability and my clinical discretion.
Please do not show up to the office while you are experiencing active symptoms of an infectious disease (cold, flu, COVID-19, etc) or if you have had active symptoms within the past 24 hours. If you are sick, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible, or request to meet via telehealth. If this isn’t possible, the late-cancellation fee will be applied.
In the event that I am sick or experiencing an emergency, I will always try to give at least 24 hours advance notice. If I need to cancel within 24 hours of our scheduled session time, you will be allowed one “free” late-cancellation in the future (i.e. you will not be charged for your next late-cancellation, and it will not count toward the two allowed late-cancellations within a two-month period).
