Here’s a little about me -
I grew up on a dairy farm seven miles northeast of Spring Valley. I have lived in St. Paul, Chicago, and Spring Valley. I currently live in Rochester.
I attended the University of Northwestern, and graduated from Bethel University with a degree in elementary education. I have also taken the K-12 Reading Teacher Program courses at St. Mary’s University.
While living in Chicago, I taught at Salem Christian School, Midwestern Christian Academy, Pui-Tak Christian Academy (Chicago’s Chinatown) and Wm. Penn Nixon Elementary. I taught second grade for six years, first grade for nine years, kindergarten for one year, and fourth grade for two years.
Though I taught in Chicago for eighteen years, I always maintained my Minnesota license thinking someday I might return to my roots. While living here, I took care of my mother for many years, and substitute taught in several school districts, but primarily at Dover-Eyota Elementary. I am happy to be a part of this wonderful school district. So far, I have enjoyed a year in special education, and this will be my ninth year in second grade.
Some things I enjoy doing are: cooking, reading, sewing, walking, and going for rides over familiar country roads. I like to watch over my flowers during the summer months, and on occasion I do some sewing for the Little Dresses for Africa Organization.
I am looking forward to having your child in my classroom. I know we are going to have a very productive school year together.
