Today is the start of the 22nd district basketball tournament. The DeSales Colts will take on the Doss Dragons, and the Butler Bears will take on the Iroquois Raiders. The top 2 teams in the district will go to the regional tournament. DeSales is led by seniors Kingston Merritt, Dashawn Harris, Cam Bischoff, Ryan Age, and Ice Ehijator. Look for these 5 to have big games as they enter the end of their careers at DeSales. These 2 teams played each other once earlier this year at DeSales. DeSales went on to win that game 71-22. Ryan Age led the Colts in scoring with 14 points. Bischoff also contributed 13 points. DeSales as a whole shot 47% from the field. DeSales will have to come into the game with the same mentality they did in the first matchup this season. The winner of this game will play against the winner of Iroquois and Butler. Butler beat Iroquois earlier this year in dominant fashion 108-31. If DeSales goes on to win the first round and Butler beats Iroquois, the Colts will need to look out for Butler’s leading scorer Adrian Wilder. The Colts will tip off against Doss tonight at 7:30.
