DeSales Gym Renovation
DeSales Gym Renovation
This offseason DeSales has been renovating the basketball gym. The gym ceiling is getting raised a couple inches by taking out the old tile ceiling and now having rafters in the ceiling. We also added floor sleeves on the court to hold up the volleyball nets. This makes it so we can now host our own volleyball games. This is huge for us as a school since before we were never able to host home games. Now volleyball games can have the full effect with the Dangerzone
The ceiling being raised and the addition of floor sleeves give the ability to host volleyball games. Volleyball is the last sport to be brought on campus. Being able to host volleyball games makes it more accessible for students to come and support the team. The extra support for the team will help potential Colts to see the support of all teams and be more inclined to come to DeSales.
This Gym renovation that seems to have been almost going on forever is almost coming to an end. They have plans to be done by the days following fall break. Hoping that they finish in time so that our DeSales Basketball team can get out on the court, in the brand new gym starting the new season. Dan Ryan ‘87 donated the new LED lights. The new lights inside the gym will be 100x better for viewing and for our athletes. The basketball rims are also being changed. They are now going to be able to raise and lower on a cord operated by staff. The rods holding the backboards will be changing to black.
