The Thomas Titans vs Mix #1

On Friday the 24th a rocket league match would take place. The Mix team defeated the full Pereira squad in their prior matchup. They are made up of all sophomores, Grayson Haycraft from Abbati, Seth Kaltofen from Elijah and Trent Hammond from Rabata. Seth wasn’t there for this match so Ms DePriest had to step in… Thomas brought a full senior squad with Riley Weber, Bryston Wechter, and Cooper Pryor. These 3 games would be some of the most competitive rocket league has ever been at DeSales.

Game 1

This first game set the precedent for the following 2. Both teams had a dominant performance by their star players. They traded goals back and forth, Trent Hammond was integral to the output by the sophomores (and Ms DePriest) scoring 3 goals. Cooper Pryor decided to leave the path of a goalie and decided to become dominant on the offense scoring 3 goals as well. Bryston Wechter had a great game, blocking many shots. With 2 more goals from Riley and Ms DePriest the game was tied 4 to 4 and the game went into overtime. The Titans would fall in overtime by a crucial goal by Grayson Haycraft. The sophomore crew would win game 1, 5 to 4.

Game 2

This 2nd game was like the 2nd movie of the original Star Wars trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back. The Titans would never allow the mixed team to have a lead in the game. Another dominating performance was done by Cooper Pryor who scored 2 goals on the mixed team’s weak defense. Ms DePriest and Trent Hammond came in as a pair with 1 point each. A crucial goal scored by the designated destroyer Riley Weber caused the final score to be 3 - 2. Haycraft and Wechter failed to show up to the party with a combined 0 goals. Bryston has yet to score a goal.

Game 3

This 3rd game was the least entertaining of the bunch but was the most integral game. In rocket league there cannot be any ties, so this was the last time these 2 teams would ever match up. The gaming lab was on fire as the pressure boiled. Would the band of Abbati, Elijah and Rabata beat the Titans? Would these seniors never get to play rocket league at DeSales again? This time it was an inverse of game 2, the mixed team would come out to a dominating lead and keep that lead. MVP Ms DePriest scored 2 goals and that was all that was needed. Cooper got locked up and was only allowed to score just one goal. Bryston Wechter went down with 0 goals throughout the 3 games. Overall the mix team scored 9 goals compared to the 8 that seniors scored. Ms DePriest and Trent had both 4 goals, and Grayson with 1. Cooper was the highest scoring player with 6 and Riley accounted for the 2 other goals. The mix team moves on to the championship game, they will face the winner of Kalinowski vs Mix #2.
