The results from September are in and ColtFest is over. Who stands at the top of the leaderboard, but points don’t mean everything in this race. For this ranking, I will be excluding Abbati as I am a member of that house and I would be too biased. These are my personal opinions as a senior here at DeSales. Some of the factors used in these rankings are from prior years.
I agree with the total through September with Elijah, they look like the same team as last year. DIBL is their chance to get back to the top, but that was the story last year. They won DIBL but fell due to all the other categories. The Knights need a prayer right now or they will continue to be a bottom-feeder team. They did not do that badly in ColtFest placing 6th overall. Academics and service are what I am most afraid of in this team, but time will tell.
Although placing 2nd in ColtFest, this team to me is seeing temporary success. They were placed dead last in August this year. The Bulls had not a soul show up to frisbee golf, and this shows the spirit in this team. The Bulls only show up when they have to, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they fail to show up to future intramural games. They have hope with Nathan Meiman placing 2nd in Smash Bros (first semester). They are horrible in academics, with 93.6% of the house having a D or F. (through the first 2 months). Brandsma has come out to a sloppy start and I have little to no confidence in the Bulls.
I have more confidence in this team this year. They may be 1-5 in fantasy football but I believe that they can come back from this as fantasy football is not a large majority of the points. What is exceptional in this team is their dedication to service, placing 2nd overall in service. I almost placed them above the following team because of this fact, service is always overlooked but it leads to victories. Service was a large part of the 2024 house cup championship for the victors, Pereira. What scares me is their performance in academics and spirit. The season is not over for Spagnoli and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got into the top 5 by the end of the semester.
The 2024 house championship team is long gone, they are tied with the most house championships ever. They used to be a powerhouse in Spirit, Intramurals, Academics, and JUGs. They did well this year, placing 3rd in Coltfest. They have brought most of what made the 2024 team so good this year. But, they have failed to carry over any of the JUG or service excellence that they had. They placed last place in service, with 0 total service hours done by their house at all, this is a horrible Achilles heel to the Spartans this year. They have a strong start to academics, and that could remedy their shortcomings. Depending on whether they can get control of their service, Pereira could be a top 3 team.
4th and 3rd place are interchangeable for this listing, you could swap the Kings and Spider Monkeys. They both excel in their respective dominant categories. Kalinowski completely owns the category of service, and service is a championship-making category. Service rolls through the year and continuously stacks on itself, it was a large part of the 2024 Pereira championship team and this could boost the Kings to their 6th house championship. Mazzinghi rules academics, which is one of the best boosters in the house race, in the 2025 race Abbati was launched from 7th place to 3rd… 6,768 points. The Spider Monkeys have already gained a thousand points from academics. Both of these teams can win it all this year, and don’t sleep on these teams.
This Nighthawk team is led by their dedicated senior team which cares about winning. Josh Finely and Tristen Pattee put in the good work for this team, getting a win in Frisbee Golf that pushed them to 2nd place in the first month. They have faulted though, only placing 6th in Coltfest. This team is up at 2nd because of their August performance, which was outright electric. They have slowed in this 2nd month but I see this as just a fluke. They have multiple pieces of a championship-winning team, a great deal of control over their discipline, and are tied for 2nd. They got 4th in both service and academics which gives them a boost. This team had a bad September but I do not have them out yet.
The Titans are the undeniable number one team in the house race currently. They are led by a larger dedicated senior team who cares about winning, seniors like Riley Weber, Will Yurt, Cooper Pryor, Chase Walters, and Bryston Wechter. They are putting up a generational run right now and this team is built to win it all this year. They lead Spirit and JUGs right now. They also have a great academic standing at 3rd overall. They are in the lead by over a thousand points, which is similar to what made Pereira a championship winner in 2024. They have a lead and if they continue this they will win. There is a lot of hope in this team, but when the year ends, we may see another end to the house race.
