Another year brings another cycle of one of Desales’ finest house traditions: NFL Pick’ems. With a large number of entries, this year is shaping up to be competitive and entertaining. Will Pereira maintain its large lead over the competition? Will Elijah still continue to not even be in the top 25? Only time will tell.
Let’s start with the top 10. Tied for 10th with 116 points are Derek Tran from Kalinowski, Gavin Ford from Spagnoli, Trent Hammond and Rowan Sullivan of Rabata, and Bradford Connell from Pereira. Mind you all of these people are 13-3. This is quite the tie we have going on in 10th place.
Taking up his own spot in 9th place is Mr. Sommer of Rabata with 117 points going 12-4. In a 3 way tie for 6th with 118 points is Will Montfort of Mazzinghi, and myself and Carson Wells of Pereira. Wells and I went 12-4, while Montfort went 13-3. In 5th place is Landon McKune of Thomas house, going 12-4 with 119 points. With 120 points, Gabe Cripps of Kalinowski and Matt Mulhall of Brandsma obtained 3rd place. Gabe went 13-3, and Matt Mulhall went a school best 14-2. If he scored better in confidence, we’d have a different leader! Bringing in the runner up is freshman Liam Cronin of Pereira. Cronin went 13-3 and scored a fantastic 121 points over the week.
However, there is only room for 1 person at the top. In first place for week one is Mr. Keadle of Pereira. Keadle scored 124 points, giving him a large lead over the rest of the competition. He did this going 13-3 and only missing on his 8, 3, and 1 point games. With a 1st place in both NFL and College Pick’ems, one can only wonder, how is Mr. Keadle so good? Well, we got our answer from the man himself: “I know ball.” Can he maintain this lead for the rest of the season? Only time will tell.
Now, after discussing our top performers, we head to the other end of the spectrum. For every week, I’m going to mention our worst performer as well. For this, I will take the person with the lowest point total who has still made picks on all of the games. The week one winner of the worst performer, going an abysmal 3-13 and scoring 20 points, is none other than: Hayden Hudson. Congrats champ.
Finally, let’s break down how each house is doing. With a staggering 5 people in the top 10 alone, Pereira has a resounding lead over the field. Other than that, it’s just individual performers from Brandsma, Kalinowski, and Thomas leading the way. Good luck to all those competing, and make sure to submit your picks by football tomorrow.
