College Pick’Ems is a new addition to the house race and is already shaping up to be a competitive battle this year. Week one is already done, and the top dogs have been crowned. We had 10 picks to choose from this week, with upsets like #4 Clemson losing to #9 LSU and #10 Miami defeating #6 Notre Dame at home. Who made the best picks? Who had the worst picks? What house has the oracle and can predict the future?
In total picks made, Will Monfort from Mazzinghi led the group with a 90% accuracy, with his only upset being Notre Dame’s loss to the Hurricanes. But just because you are the most accurate, doesn't mean you got the most points. That award goes to Owen Nutter from Brandsma, with 80% accuracy, but the upsets were his lower-confidence picks. He predicted with wisdom from the gods’ that the Hurricanes would beat the Irish. He lost points when he predicted #1 Texas to beat the #3 Buckeyes. His largest loss was when he predicted UCLA to come on top against Utah State. A single point stands between 1st and 2nd…
Five people tied for 3rd place this week: Max Oliverio from Abbati, Landon McKune from Thomas, TJ Heil from Rabata, Calvin Brey, and Mr. Keadle from Pereira. A hard-fought battle for next week, with challenging picks like Vanderbilt at Virginia and #15 Michigan at #18 Oklahoma. I went 6-4 in picks this week, with dumb picks like Northwestern winning against Tulane.
The award for worst picks this week goes to Jordan Weeks and Connor Sprowles, respectively, with 40% accuracy. Out of these 2, Connor Sprowles stands out for coming in last with just 21 points (for reference, I got 40). The house that can predict the future currency is a close one, but for this week, I award Pereira the win. The war is not over yet, with 14 weeks remaining; any house can still win. We may see that Connor Sprowles is actually the best, but this just wasn't his week. Maybe Will Monfort just got lucky with his picks, but time will tell. Will Abbati take the reins of the crowd and charge to first?
Make sure to complete this week’s Pick’Ems (especially if you are in Abbati house). I plan to do these recaps of Pick’Ems every week, so stay tuned to the house cup page each week for more.
