Introduction
Abbati House is one of the nine houses here at Desales High School. Led by Math teacher Mr. Rucker and Game Design teacher Mr. Lanter, Abbati House illustrates the qualities and characteristics that Desales men strive to be, emphasizing faith, brotherhood, and tradition. Abbati House’s mascot is the Bulldogs, which symbolizes strength and being part of a pack together. In this article I’ll talk about Saint Albert degli Abbati (who the house is named after), the achievements Abbati House has accomplished, and what makes Abbati House special.

About Saint Albert degli Abbati
Albert degli Abbati (also known as Albert of Trapani) was a priest, friar, and saint. Born in Sicily around year AD 1240, he became popular for his strict and dedicated faith life, containing prayer and preaching. He received his early education from the Carmelites and around this time his heart set on studying for priesthood and converting others. His most well-known act however was when he was credited for lifting a siege on the city of Messina in the year AD 1301. Without this act, it is very likely that hundreds of people inside the city would have starved to death. Saint Albert degli Abbati demonstrated how to be Christ-like in many ways throughout his life.

5th place in discipline (4,260 points)
5th place in academics (2,480 points)
6th place in service (2,190 points)
4th place in special spirit (2,815 points)
9th place in spirit (1,890 points)
3rd place in intramurals (3,925 points)
Overall, last year they finished 6th place in the House Cup last year, with a total count of 18,560 points. Abbati House member and current Junior Colin Yurt is planning on winning this year's House Cup by "...participating in all the intramurals this year and focusing on academics."
