Intramurals and the house system are huge things that make DeSales, the house addition aimed for a strengthening of brotherhood and aimed to get everyone involved in something. When you talk about Intramurals you have to talk about DIBL, which stands for DeSales Intramural Basketball league. DIBL started spring 2009 which was before the house system started, it was pick your own teams and play. The first season it was considered an intramural house point event, was spring 2010.
Ever since DIBL was started it has been the event everyone looks forward to, everyone looks forward to playing with their friends or against them and being able to see them outside of school every Sunday during the season. DIBL is more than just basketball games, it is an opportunity to grow in brotherhood and to grow with the teachers as they put a team in every year. It also gets some classes in the school involved, Sports And Media Journalism work hard to create a weekly report on DIBL but also they create pre-season all americans and post season all american so the players have a chance to get recognized for their efforts. In the DIBL season you play every team once and you have one bye, then the playoff starts, no series, just one game and if you lose you are gone. If you make it to the championship game you will get to play during school and in front of the whole school. The Championship game is played one day during school and it is a way to get the students excited for their house and support them. This is a great way to build brotherhood either by playing during the game or sitting in the stands you are connecting with your brother. DIBL is a great way to connect with your school but is also a great way to compete even if you don’t play a sport.
