Back in last year's Colt Fest two first-time badminton competitors pulled off a victory in their debut tournament. Despite having never picked up a racket before, Brendan and Dakotah Buckley managed to dominate the opposition. The tournament started shakily, with a few awkward serves but the pair quickly found their rhythm. And ended with a nail-biting finish that ended with the newcomers celebrating a victory no one saw coming.

“It didn’t even feel real,” Brendan said after the game. “We just tried our best and we won.”

While some might call it luck, but DBuck and Brendan knew it was pure skill. The duo left the 'court' with smiles, bragging rights, and a new appreciation for a sport they’d never considered before.

As for what’s next? Brendan and DBuck are already joking about training for a rematch, this time with at least a little practice under their belts.
