The Colts had a booming victory over Frankfort last Thursday, winning 4-1. It was a hard fought game all the way through. Frankfort had an early start with a free kick goal in the 6th minute. It was back and forth for around 20 minutes until the Colts struck. Jimmy Monks snuck in a penalty in the bottom left corner to even the game, after Drew Dietz was fouled in the box. Later in the 16th minute, George Fleming tapped in a goal to put DeSales up 2-1. After this, the Colts maintained momentum throughout the rest of the game.
Griffin Cummings then scored "The Goal Heard Around the World." It was a knuckle ball that seemed to just float into the top right corner of the goal. Then to seal the game, Jimmy Monks dribbled past multiple defenders, cut to his left, then hit a rocket into the top of the goal. Here are Drew Dietz’s opinions on the game. “I thought we played really good. We had really good possession the whole game. We showed great perseverance after going down early, and by coming back and scoring 4 goals.” This game shows greater things to come for DeSales soccer. If they can keep battling even after going down, there’s nothing they won't be able to achieve.
