Last Friday night your DeSales Colts took on the Garrard County Golden Lions in the first round of the KHSAA playoffs. The Colts were away for the game but still managed to walk away with a win to advance their season. The game was full of ups and downs but here is what you need to know about your DeSales Colts from Friday and how they will look moving forward.Â
The DeSales Colts were led by senior quarterback Cam Bischoff, who ran for two rushing touchdowns, and senior receiver Kingston Merritt, one of the top receivers in the state. The two seniors have been huge parts of the Colts football season with their impeccable leadership qualities and ability to get the job done on the field while maintaining their health allowing them to be eligible for most games this season. This game the two were definitely needed as the game was a offensive heavy based game, with a final score of 43-36. Another major benefit for the Colts was, even though they were away, many DeSales students came out to show their support for the team.
To start the game in the first quarter the Lions scored twice putting the score to 14-0 leaving the Colts seemingly out of the game one would think. However, if you have watched any of DeSales football this year you would know that the Colts are never out of the game until the time hits zero. The Colts ended up responding to these two touchdowns and ended up having the game tied up leading to a very suspenseful game. They went touchdown for touchdown with both teams scoring every possession but in the end the DeSales Colts pulled away with the win.
That being said, this Friday night the Colts take on the Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions who they did take a loss too earlier in the season. That being said the Colts have adjusted their line ups and game plan meaning they are ready to play. With evidence from last game everybody should know to not undersetimate the Colts because they can always come back.
